Experimental Study on Tissue Phosphatase Following Production of Anaphylactic Shock in Rabbits.

Abstract
The behavior of tissue alkaline phosphatase in male rabbits, weighing between 1.8 and 2.2 kg, nqjected to experimental shock such as anaphylactic shock was studied.
Fifteen and twenty minutes after the anaphylactic shock, the animals were killed by air instillation and tissue specimens were then obtained from the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, small intestine, testis, prostate, pancreas and brain of each animal.
Then the distribution of tissue phosphatase was studied histochemically and histological investigation was made of the above mentioned organs.
The author obtained the following results :
1) Significant histological changes of the various organs were not apparent 15 and 20 minutes after anaphylactic shock. Circulatory disturbances and a slight degree of the degenerative changes were observed only.
2) Alkaline phosphatase is present in mild or moderato concentration in the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, small intestine, testis, prostate, pancreas and brain of normal male rabbits.
3) The amount of alkaline phosphatase in the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, adrenal glands, small intestine, testis, prostate, pancreas and brain do not varyremarkably and is relatively constant when the animal is subjected to anaphylactic shock.
4) In contrast with above results, the kidneys after anaphylactic shock, contained larger amounts of alkaline phosphatase than normal animals.
The concentration of renal alkaline phosphatase was marked at the proximal convoluted tubules and also marked in the distal convoluted tubles.
